Where Aces High sits
Left-hand row, two bars short of the stage. You pass Pocket Kings, Palace Bar and Full House to reach it; Black Jack is next, then the stage itself. MGN Bar is across the walkway on the right.
This is where the sound changes. The band is close enough that the bass comes up through the floor and the guitar has edges. You can still talk between songs. During them, you mostly listen.
What a night here is like
Aces High is a listening bar by position. From nine, when the band starts, the seats facing the stage are the reason to be here. The stage lights spill down the walkway and the whole back section of the hall leans toward the music.
Weekends and high season are loud in the best way. On a Monday, when the DJ plays instead of the band, it is a more relaxed version of the same seat: the music, the cold room, fewer people between you and it.
Nothing between you and the band here, and the hall's air-conditioning means the volume is the only thing to brace for. When the band takes a break, the room cools further and the conversation comes back.
Who it suits
People who came for the band and want it loud and in front of them. Anyone who finds the stage-side seats full and wants the next best sightline on the left. If you would rather be beside the stage than in front of it, or you want a Guinness from the tap, KQ Bar is on the opposite side, the last bar on the right.
