Where Black Jack sits
End of the left-hand row. Aces High is behind you; in front of you is the stage. Across the walkway on the right is KQ Bar, bar 10. This is the back of the complex, where every visitor who walked in from Soi Diana ends up if they follow the music.
The sound here is full. Drums land in your chest. The singer is a few metres away and you can see the band working: the count-in, the glance between players before a change. It is the concert end of the courtyard.
What a night here is like
From nine, when the band starts, Black Jack is about the music and not much else. It is cosy and close to the action. On a Friday or Saturday in high season the back of the complex vibrates, the stage lights wash over the tables, and the room is cold and loud and exactly what a lot of people came to Pattaya for.
Monday is DJ night across the complex, and the back bars feel the difference more than the front. A Monday here is still a good seat; it is just a quieter one.
At the stage end the trade is conversation for volume: nothing between you and the band. Directly across the walkway is the bar whose seats run along the stage's edge.
Who it suits
People who want the band loud and the night open. Anyone who prefers the left side of the stage. The natural pairing for a night is Black Jack on one side and KQ Bar on the other: the same stage from two angles. When you want the seats along the stage edge or a pint of Guinness from the tap, cross the walkway.
